all photos courtesy of Dad, except for a few cribbed off of the official race photo website
mom&dad set up somewhere around mile six; dad took some time out before the runners got there to photograph in the early morning light
this guy was a little bit ahead of me
oh here I come
in retrospect I'm lucky that I didn't accidentally flying-punch somebody in the face
a bit less pep @ mile 20
close up @ mile 20. by my expression you can tell that I am seeing:
A) mom & dad
B) cheese fries
C) the Face of God
D) all of the above
27.5 yds to go
portraits of hurt
done
hard-earned rivulets of caked sweat-salt
bringing home the hardware
I'm a little sad that I don't have any pics with nick; I guess he was too busy being 10 minutes ahead of me during the race and too busy getting massaged afterwards.
I have no pictures with zhubin either but the memory of him blurring the line between spectating and participating by running with me down the last 100yd stretch of road into memorial stadium while crazily flailing, gesturing, and shouting encouragment is pretty well etched into my mind
and so: thanks to everybody. to dad for the photos and to mom for feeding me like a king, to eithan for getting me into all of this craziness and to nick and zhub for sharing it with me, to the dozens of strangers I hi-fived and the thousands who turned out to watch and cheer...a great race and a great day and a great weekend and really just great.
